My UX story.

Hi! I'm Miguel, often called “Migs” or “Migx”.

Before moving to Australia in 2015, I was an active student in the Philippines, participating in various activities, including scouting, dance, table tennis, and journalism.

In 2014, my high school won the nationwide School Press Conference (SPC) competition in Collaborative Publishing, where four writers, a photographer, a cartoonist, and a designer worked together to publish a short newspaper. As a sophomore, I was promptly assigned to be the publication designer the following year because the seniors had graduated. We were a completely new, unproven, but motivated team.

Through this experience, I discovered the immense impact design can have on capturing people's attention and driving engagement. Our articles were well-written, but we needed to ensure our publication stood out visually to enhance the judges' reading experience. It was a challenging yet rewarding process to craft captivating layouts and graphics that complemented our content.

Although we didn't win that year, placing 7th in the city-wide SPC among 20 competing schools, the journey back to the nationwide SPC was just beginning...

for them, as I unexpectedly migrated to Australia a month later.

But the experience ignited my determination to improve further and pursue my newfound passion. Living in another country, I embraced the opportunity to explore new horizons.

Along my journey, I found User Experience Design. As an undergraduate student at Curtin University, I've worked on various UX projects, such as for Sugar Artist, Dwellingup Discovery Forest, and Varsity, that have allowed me to apply my skills and grow as a designer and a team member.

After three years of extensive learning from my peers and tutors at Curtin, I'm excited to learn more from the industry and share my skills to deliver fresh user experience solutions to your clients.
